FTSE-250 Facilities Management Specialist: Taking incident mapping to the next level

At a glance

  • A FTSE-250 provider of Facilities Management and related specialist services
  • A leading UK business with more than 60,000 employees across 250 locations
  • An innovative company that constantly seeks new ways to increase efficiency and improve the services it offers through better use of data

The Challenge

Our client had recognised that it urgently needed to improve its incident data collation and analysis systems in order to enhance its communication with its customers.  The client’s key goal in this project was to upgrade its capabilities in reporting to its clients on incidents to which it was responding and to map them and identify trends and relationships in the data.  As well as updating clients on incidents and providing them with more detail and context about the incident, it also recognised the need to better inform its own response management capability from its UK National Control Centre.

The client’s brief included the need for:-

  • A well-designed, attractive interface so that data could be discussed ‘live’ with customers
  • The seamless integration of its own systems with that of the solution provider and
  • A daily update of incident data with no human intervention in the process.

The Solution

We were delighted to be selected to deliver these objectives following the submission of a ‘proof of concept’ application based on a sample of client data. The system was developed and went ‘live’ in June 2014 – meeting timescale and budget goals.

We were delighted to be selected to deliver these objectives following the submission of a ‘proof of concept’ application based on a sample of client data. The system was developed and went ‘live’ in June 2014 – meeting timescale and budget goals.

The application went on to occupy centre stage at the client’s National Control Centre, enabling staff there to understand the pattern of incidents and the relationship of those incidents to national crime data.

Subsequently, the number of system users increased as both sales people and cross functional managers began using the data to inform decision making across a number of functions including business development.
